| Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for leading the Association’s activities and is the chief spokesperson representing the sector for members, to the public, media, government and various sector based stakeholders. As the organization’s most senior staff role, the Executive Director is accountable for executing the strategic direction with the Board and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Association. The primary focus for the Executive Director is to provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of communications strategies and programs in supporting the aquaculture sector in British Columbia. The position leads communications planning, issues management, media services, and government and community relations functions in serving the needs of the Association regarding the management of sensitive, emerging and high profile communications issues. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned hands-on manager with a broad mix of general management, communications, public relations and government relations expertise whose knowledge and career experience has produced outstanding results in their previous organizations. Effective strategic planning acumen will be complemented by demonstrated leadership skills and proven consultative and interpersonal competencies. Superior ability to create a positive and enthusiastic work environment are hallmarks of a suitable candidate.
